French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door refrigerators blend design and function. They feature elegant double doors that open to reveal the large fridge on top and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features like door-to-door dispensers, ice machines with higher-end features and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We consulted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect, and the founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right one. They evaluated the capacity of storage, layout and energy efficiency, among other aspects.

Like its name implies, GE’s Profile series is aimed at consumers who want to integrate cutting-edge features in their kitchens. This fridge is loaded with them all from a Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a sophisticated dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator costs an extra amount, I'd like to see higher quality.

This refrigerator is a good option, despite the slight blip. It has a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food compared to other models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about par for an French door fridge costing this much. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker in the left-hand door, although it's not the biggest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The drawers are simple to open and shut however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also offers many options for customization. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice it GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill which is a feature found in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to choose the number of cups they would like to disperse. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to avoid freezing burn. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins at each door as well as two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. You'll also find a full-width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

One of the best things about this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, which makes it easy to move the ice to the refrigerator to use as needed. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, as well, such as sliding drawers that can help you better organize the placement of your items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate container for ice.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. They have handles that are sunken on the front, which allow smaller people to open them from the bottom, however they're not easy for taller people to steer closed without slamming them. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a fridge with a french door fridge vs side by side door with an efficient layout. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good option for those looking for a French-door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It's a basic design that's not as visually striking as some of the competition however it comes with enough features to make it a solid choice. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser, as well as an excellent Ice machine that is fast.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer allows you to use a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power into this area so it can be used to store food items that require extra attention. I've noticed that the general settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ much from 38 degrees. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite be among the top in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat in order to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
