The Best Wireless Over Ear Headset

Over-ear headphones are able to completely block out external noise. Choose headphones with active noise cancellation and an endurance of at minimum 20 hours.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4s feature great ANC, a convenient app, and easy control via the ear. The default sound profile provides punch and thump, but instruments and vocals can be pushed to the background.

1. Sony WH-1000XM5

Sony's WH-1000XM5 headphones are a great pair of headphones for music lovers who want to experience the best wireless over-ear headset. They're lightweight with a soft carrying case and fold flat for easy storage in your bag. The controls are simple and easy to use, and the battery can last for 30 hours with no ANC. The headphones come with an auto pause feature that shuts the headphones off when you remove them from your head. This helps to conserve battery.

The WH-1000XM5 can be used with Sony's bt headphones wireless Connect app which offers an extensive range of features that can be used to personalize your audio experience. The app can be used to monitor your location and tailor ambient sound features to your surroundings. They also come with a built-in microphone for making hands-free calls. The Sony WH-1000XM5 is able to play music via Bluetooth or with a wired connection using the cable included. They are compatible with aptX codecs, aptX HD codecs as well as adaptive codecs for blue tooth headphones high-quality audio over Bluetooth.

The WH-1000XM5 comes with a similar headband and earcups as the XM4 but is lighter and more comfortable. These blue tooth headphones are comfortable to wear and can be worn for extended periods. They're also great for longer flights and commutes. They have good noise canceling performance that blocks out most background noise while maintaining clarity and clarity. The Sony WH-1000XM5 offer decent bass for closed back headphones and they offer an excellent soundstage with a clear separation of vocals and instruments.

The low latency is an enormous positive. The lag is low enough that it's almost invisible and they can be used for casual games. They're not the ideal choice for games that are competitive, however and are ideal for those who intend to use them for media consumption or to make calls that are hands-free.

Sony is adamant about incorporating smart features into its products and the WH1000XM5 is not an exception. The active noise cancellation is among the most effective I've ever tried, and they come with a set of smart functions to enhance the overall listening experience. They also have Sony's DSEE Extreme engine which upscales compressed music to near hi-res quality. They're compatible with Sony's LDAC technology, which streams music with higher quality via Bluetooth.

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Bowers & Wilkins flagship headphones that are the PX7 S2, have consistently appeared on the top lists of wireless headsets since the launch of the first-generation PX7 in the year 2015. They are in the same category as Sony WH1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort. Its newest model, the PX7 S2, is an upgrade that takes the original wirelss headphones to a higher level, with better ANC performance and a new design.

The bio-cellulose drivers that measure 40mm inside the earcups have been angled so that they directly hit your eardrums. This provides an experience with more intimacy than most other closed-back headphones. It's a bold claim however the PX7 S2 can deliver on. Vocals cut through clearly, and bass is deep and rumbly when you need it to be.

The PX7 S2 is also very excellent at making calls. It provides crisp and clear sound that does not drown out your voice. The PX7 S2 also offers rapid charging, which can get you back fully charged in just two hours. They're also compatible with high-resolution music due to aptX adaptive Bluetooth codesc which allow the playback of 24-bit audio.

The noise-canceling technology as well as improved audio quality are the most important upgrades for most listeners. In our tests we were able to remove nearly all simulations of aircraft noises using the PX7 S2. They also excelled in Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus which offer great insight into the shifting dynamics between the solo vocal, the wind trio and orchestral accompaniment.

As well as In addition to improved ANC, in addition to improved ANC, PX7 S2s have a number of other useful features that make them competitive with other top-rated noise-canceling headphones. They're completely wireless, with Bluetooth multipoint support so you can connect two devices simultaneously, and they include a built-in microphone which allows hands-free calls with your phone's assistant. The construction is sturdy and top-quality which means they'll last you for many years.

Of course, they're not perfect. The clamp force of the models we tested were a little more than we would have liked and they didn't have as many app features as the other options. However, these aren't major concerns. The PX7 S2s are a superb wireless headphone that rivals the best in their class, and it's difficult to imagine them being defeated by any other headphone.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

For audiophiles who value high-quality sound and are looking for a premium wireless noise-canceling headset The Focal Bathys are tough to beat. They're the French audio company's very first ANC headphones that use Bluetooth and they offer incredible audio quality in both Bluetooth mode and when connected to the device via USB to enjoy hi-fi quality sound with a maximum of 24 bits/192kHz (the headset is also capable of blocking external sound through its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, blue Tooth headphones with their glossy black finish and swooping curves that are similar to Focal's premium open-back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. They also have premium materials such as magnesium and aluminum for an extremely sturdy build that feels solid, comfortable and worth the price.

In Bluetooth mode when Bluetooth is enabled, the Bathys offer a clear and lively sound signature that easily outperforms similarly priced consumer ANC options such as the Sony XM5/5 or Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode allows them to be extended which makes them a fantastic option for true hifi listeners.

The Focal &Naim app lets users to adjust the playback controls of the headphone and Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between quiet or soft intensities for ANC as well as adjust the brightness of the LEDs that are on the ear cups, and adjust the EQ settings. The app isn't complete but it has enough functionality to warrant the download.

The most notable flaw is that the active noise cancellation doesn't match the quality of the competitors. The headphone doesn't eliminate any ambient noise as well as the top-rated XM5 and AirPods Max. Its treble accuracy is also a bit off and has a muddy mid to high range that blocks vocals and instruments.

The Focal Bathys aren't the most portable headphones. Their earcups don't fold up and they weigh a bit more than the competition, meaning they're not the best choice for travel. The Bathys should be used at home for long listening sessions or as a reference headset for sound engineering. The Bathys are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, despite their size and weight.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WHCH720N are an excellent pair of wireless headphones that are worth the price. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and helps to reduce ambient noise. They are great for those who commute or travel. They also have an attractive touch of premium quality with their durable construction and attractive matte finish.

zihnic-bluetooth-headphones-over-ear-foldable-wireless-and-wired-stereo-headset-micro-sd-tf-fm-for-cell-phone-pc-soft-earmuffs-light-weight-for-prolonged-wearing-rose-6777.jpgThey have a similar look to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They feature a slim headband with the usual ear cup hinges and a solid plastic construction. They are lightweight and comfortable, but they feel a bit too tight for my taste. They have a USB-C charging port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable included in the box. They are multipoint Bluetooth which means that you can connect to two devices at once if you want.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid noise cancelling technology did great job of reducing ambient noise, with only two noticeable blips in walking around Waterloo station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers weren't able to block all sounds around them, but they did struggle with lower frequencies sounds, such as the rumbling engine sounds of buses and trains.

Streaming music over the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it exhibited a low level of harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and found they could handle the intricate interplay between instruments with ease. It did a fantastic job of reducing the bass in rock tracks and keeping the mix focused.

I love the fact that you can adjust the Sony Headphones Connect app to customize the CH720N's ANC and multipoint connectivity settings to suit your preferences and add a variety of audio presets. You can also enable DSEE via the app, which improves sound quality and upsacles compressed audio content.

The WH-CH720N offers a great value for PS130. It's not equipped with many of Sony's most popular features (such as Speak-toChat and Quick Attention) however it comes with a lot of excellent features. 360 Reality Audio, smart controls and the DSEE upscaling are all present. The only thing that is not available is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support I think it would have been a great inclusion.
