Window Sash Repairs

Window sashes must be inspected regularly for signs of mold, mildew, and damage. You can save future repair costs by catching these issues in the early stages, before they become out of control.

The sash is an inside frame that is able to move vertically up and down in windows that open. This article will show you how to do simple sash repairs.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes give a classic aesthetic to your home. If properly maintained, can last for many years. To make these sash repairs, it's important to have all of the necessary tools lined up before you begin. Start by marking the location of the hinge channel on the frame with a pencil (Photo 1). This will make it easier to place the channel in the proper location after you've completed. Remove the sash, and then remove the hardware including the beads that separate (Photo 2) and the cords or chains that hold it in place.
