Then, it will continue to use the information to avoid obstacles. In our tests it did not get stuck on power cords, long curtains and even dog toys. It isn't perfect though and occasionally encountered obstacles like tangled wires or the odd book or toy.

You can control the S7 Max Ultra via its smartphone app, and that's where you'll find all of the advanced features that differentiate it from other robotic vacuums and mop machines. This includes room-specific cleaning and mopping settings, a scheduling planner, mopping and vacuuming power strengths, and integrations with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for smart home integration. Its extensive feature set makes the S7 Max Ultra can do nearly everything a standard robot vacuum does, but at less than half the price.

The S7 Max Ultra's vacuuming is impressive and it did a great job of picking up dirt, pet hair, and other debris from carpet and hard flooring. The automatic emptying of the dustbin was flawless in our tests. This was very and reassuring. It also boasts a 5100 Pa HyperForce suction rating, which is significantly superior to the 2,500Pa suction power of the S6 MaxV and S7.

The S7 Max Ultra mopping performance was also satisfactory but not the best. It was equipped with a special microfiber mop pad, which absorbs liquids and utilizes sonic vibration technology to scrub your floors up to 3000 times per minute which was a little quicker than the X1 Omni's circular pads that spin at a speed of 180 revolutions per minute. The S7 Max Ultra’s ReactiveAI 2.0 obstruction recognition system is extremely effective. In our tests, it didn't get stuck on any objects, and it stayed clear of power cords, long curtains and other obstacles that could be in the way 100% of the time.

2. Narwal Freo

It is equipped with a variety of new software, sensor and hardware enhancements that are designed to keep it at the top of its game. This includes the patent-pending DirtSense technology as well as the Smart-Swing feature, both of which help to detect the floor surface being cleaned and automatically adjusts the cleaning mode depending on what type of floor it is. The Freo is also a step forward over its predecessor in that it is controlled directly via the LCD touchscreen on its base station. This is in addition to the smartphone app. This is the first time for robot vacuum and mop and is certainly a welcome change if you'd rather skip the hassle of using the app. You can also optimize the route during a session using the controls on the LCD screen and ensure that the robot is doing what you want it to do.

The Narwal Freo also does a decent job of keeping its noise level lower when it's working, coming in at only 63dB while in suction mode. Despite this, maintenance on the Freo isn't completely hands-free as it is necessary to clean various components like the primary brush roll and side brushes.

3. Ecovacs Deebot t9+

The Ecovacs Deebot T9+ is available at The Good Guys (for $1279) and is among the most advanced self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner self emptying mop and vacuum combos. It is capable of mapping your home, cleaning and mopping, as well as finding and avoid obstacles. It can even spew out an air freshener, which is a pretty cool feature.

The Combo j7+ has a tiny dust bin that you must empty manually. The Combo mop pads are also less effective than other brands. This is a shame, because this robot is otherwise excellent.
