The days of simple metal car keys are long gone. Kia drivers now have a keyfob which can open doors and start engines with a simple push of the button.

Learn how you can get the most of your key fob by exploring its hidden functions. Here are some awesome techniques to try, including hands-free unlocking the car to using the analog key inside.

Keyless Entry

We have some key fob-related tips that will make your life easier, regardless of whether you're looking to purchase a new Kia vehicle or have already got one. Find out how to make the most out of your vehicle's features.

You don't need to fish your Kia key fob from a pocket or bag to unlock the driver's door due to the car's proximity keyless entry feature. Simply stand just two feet from the door and press the door handle or press the unlock button on the key fob to unlock it hands-free. You can open the door to the driver's side using the MECHANICAL key that is located inside the Smart Key fob. It is located behind the front part of the door handle. It has a silver button you can push to open it. Insert the mechanical key into the lock, and turn left to open the door, or right to lock it.

Another useful feature is the ability to remotely start your car in cold days. Many models come equipped with this feature and the key fob is usually the only method of activating it. Consumer Reports says that the remote engine start is typically identified by an arrow that is circular.

The panic button on your Kia key fob may seem useless at first glance -- but it could save your life in a situation of emergency. Rather than using the standard car alarm that you have, you can press and hold your panic button for a second or more to activate your vehicle's full-force horn. RepairPal states that this booming sound can deter thieves, and allow you to escape or ask for help. It also helps prevent home break-ins, by scaring away intruders who might think that your vehicle is about to get stolen.
