Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to mark the centennial of the company. It is made from Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes the flying "B" paperweight, keys, and an album of never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

This is the ideal way to welcome a new car owner.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. It is evident in the precise placement of its quilting and the use of leather from by-products of cattle as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you walk up to it with its striking sculptural appeal and power through carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. The rear tonneau on the Continental GT, for instance was the largest piece ever of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, attention to detail and craftsmanship to detail that has established Bentley as the world's most sought-after car brand. The company continues pushing boundaries using the most advanced technologies and hand-crafted products. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear sunroof, as well as a custom-designed Apple iPad docking station.

A century after its inception, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW and BMW - celebrated its centennial in 2019. Before the pandemic planning took the center stage, the company was hosting a variety of special events and launches planned to mark this milestone event.

Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its lavish and extravagant automobiles and keys, but even the keys are designed to make a statement. The Bentayga Key is constructed of sterling silver and features an enormous B' logo to let everyone know that you're driving a Bentley. It's also engraved with the years 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centenary.

The Mulsanne was redesigned and redeveloped by bentley car keys Mulliner, to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats are designed to offer passengers unmatched comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. A custom heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system was designed to ensure each passenger has the ideal climate control setting.

Alongside a range of stylishly executed styling changes and a host of elegantly executed styling changes, the Mulsanne is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp and 479lbft of torque. This amazing power is coupled by a new suspension system that gives Bentley's famously smooth ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a unique specification called the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin is decorated with cross-stitching as well as contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embossed in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. A bespoke Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key has two buttons one of which opens the trunk, and the other that is used to start the vehicle. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spaces. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your car.

The key is constructed from vegetable tanned leather. It takes over two days to create each one. It is hand cut to shape, sewn sealed and polished to create an excellent finish. It is strong and compact, and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its style is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however, it feels heavier and has a more premium feel.

It also has Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent keyless entry theft. This device is put into the remote-control fob and it shuts it down in the event that the key isn't used for a short period of time. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can be used to open and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the values of the company that include fine craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as cutting-edge technologies. More than 4,000 employees work at the Crewe headquarters, responsible for the design, development and production of Bentley cars. These workers apply skills that have been handed through generations to the latest automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own car. Guests sit at a series of images called "mood stations" and select a series of photos ranging from picturesque landscapes to sporting events that will inspire them to design their own. When each selection is made, a pattern emerges, which reveals the model and color preferences of the customized Bentley.

The resulting configuration is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards, which are presented to the guests in a hand-crafted key case. The keys are also equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps, which illuminate the door-opening pathway with the owner's name and/or emblem as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man hours to design and put together the typical Mulsanne. The inability to adopt modern technology is the primary factor to this lengthy and laborious process. The Crewe factory workers do not use a machine to space perfectly matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, instead of using sensors built-in to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spots.

Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. Edition, which pays tribute to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited-edition cars include a special key that displays a small portion of the 1930 8 Litre's crankshaft.
