Political observer from the Indonesian Public Opinion Study and Discussion Group (KedaiKopi) Hendri Satrio, also known as Hensat, said that the regional election in Jakarta has never been kind to incumbents. Kaka Suminta stressed that to avoid any suspicions of lobbying by prospective regent and deputy regent pairs related to administrative verification, the central KPU needs to intervene. "There must be oversight from the central KPU," said Kaka. He added that to avert any clandestine attempts at committing fraud during administrative verification, the central KPU should enforce strict oversight. "If pairs do not pass administrative verification, they should not be given any leeway that could damage democracy," he said.

Usep noted that independent candidates arise as a critique of the party system mandated to recruit candidates in regional elections. However, some believe the party system remains undemocratic, leading to challenges in the Constitutional Court (MK), which were successful. "In practice, many independent candidates fail in terms of electability. Furthermore, independent candidates lack party support in parliament, which is crucial for implementing various programs," Usep stated. Usep mentioned that independent candidates must be financially strong and have extensive networks, in addition to competing against party candidates with party machinery. "Party-nominated candidates are usually one step ahead because of the party machinery supporting them. Unless an independent candidate is highly popular and well-connected, it is difficult," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Jakarta KPU Chairman Wahyu Dinata said they are accepting the support documents from the candidate pairs. The process involves initial acceptance and then returning the documents. "We are currently in the review process. After this, we will examine both the physical and digital documents they have prepared," Wahyu explained. According to Wahyu, if the documents meet the minimum requirements, they will issue a receipt. If not, they will return the documents.
