For any solo backpacker it is very important to know the route. You should have the local map with you so that you never get lost. Keep the hotel number with easy reach so that in case of any emergency you can give them a call. In fact you should have your best friend's number on speed dial so that if need be you can give him a call immediately.

Backpacking trips are mainly meant for exploring the place where you are travelling. It is not about staying at expensive places. The idea is to explore the place as much as you can. The idea is to get a hang of the culture, heritage and local cuisine of the place. Hence, look out for places that offer bed and breakfast accommodation. You get a place to stay, enjoy homemade food and the amount charged for your stay is not that expensive as well. In short you enjoy a memorable trip without burning a hole in your pocket.

There are many travel agents that organize trips for solo backpackers. You can contact any one of them for your trip. In case, you want to get things done all by yourself, you can plan everything on your own. Make all the bookings by yourself. After you have selected the destination, check out the flight timings and rates, talk to the owners of the bed and breakfast accommodations, and take a printout of the local map of the area.
