Model Making In Architecture

The importance of model making in architecture could be thought to have reduced in recent years. With the introduction of new and innovative architecture design technology, is there still a place for model making in architecture? Stanton Williams, director at Stirling Prize-winning practice, Gavin Henderson, believes that it’s more important than ever.

Best Bagless self Emptying Robot vacuum best bagless robot vacuum Self Emptying Robot Vacuums

This robovac is awe-inspiring AI-powered obstacle avoidance, powerful mopping, as well as a convenient auto-emptying dock. It also has an HEPA filter that blocks out allergens.

It also offers the most apps features, such as virtual no-go zones and zone cleaning.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an extremely well-built robot that has an enormous dirt compartment that it automatically empties into the docking station when full. It will then begin cleaning after it's recharged. It comes with a large dirt compartment on the outside that automatically fills up into the docking station when it's full and resumes cleaning when it's fully charged. It's efficient in removing small and medium debris, but struggles with hair of pets.

Similar to the i3 EVO, this robot employs iRobot's Adapat 3.0 navigation software to help you navigate your home and remember particular rooms for future cleaning. It also comes with an option that automatically adjusts the height of its head and suction power depending on the floor type it's working on.

It did a great job in our tests on both hard floors and low-pile surfaces, getting rid of the majority of the smaller and more difficult debris that we placed on each surface, as well as the larger crumbs of cereal that we put on the floor. It's not as adept in handling pet hair than some of the top models we've tested, however, and it may become stuck on cords or toys if you don't pick them up before sending the robot to clean.

In our tests, it cleaned for about 90 minutes before the battery went out and then returned to the base. That's better than the i7+ and s9+ which each ran for less than 60 minutes in our tests. The i3+ EVO has a good record of recollecting its previous run, which we haven't seen on other robots.

The i3+ EVO's trash bin has capacity of 1.5 quarts which is smaller than most of the other robots we've tested. It has a release button on one side of the bin, which you press to empty it. You can also empty it using the docking station's CleanBase Automatic Dirt disposal, which soaks up the contents of the internal dust bin before emptying it into the docking station’s external dirt bag.

2. Eureka Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro is a powerful mopping system that has a suction of 5,500pa. It can be installed in a matter of minutes. The integrated 770ml tank of water and dustbin can reduce the frequency of emptying and its large capacity allows longer mopping sessions. Its 240-minute runtime makes it an excellent choice for larger homes. The robot's bagless intelligent vacuums navigation system, which is based on PreciSense LiDAR mapping, ensures that it covers the entire room and is able to navigate around obstacles.

Contrary to other robot vacuums like the Q5 Pro does not require Wi-Fi for operation. However, its battery life is rather small, so it is necessary to recharge it regularly if you plan to use the robot for a long time. It is relatively easy to maintain by using dirt bags that is easily replaced and a straightforward maintenance schedule. It's also a bit cheaper than the more expensive rivals.

The Q5 Pro is a bit selective when it comes to bulkier pet hair and debris but it does an excellent job in general. In our tests, it cleared more debris on bare floors and carpets that are low-pile than the Dirt Devil Endura Max, however, it had a difficult time getting into tight corners and recessed areas of carpet with high pile. It's also a lot more maneuverable and the filtering system does an excellent job of capturing allergens. The straight suction floorhead of the vacuum is small for large or heavy debris. There are a few minor disadvantages, such as its lack advanced features and the limited functionality of the remote control. Eureka Q5 Pro, despite its limitations, is a great option for those who are looking for a basic robot vacuum with mopping capabilities.

3. SwitchBot K10 Plus

If you're looking to purchase a smart vacuum bagless cordless cleaner that has the capability to also mop, the SwitchBot K10 Plus is a fantastic choice. Its small size allows it to reach places that larger robots cannot such as corners and under furniture. It also has an advanced LiDAR sensor that can recognize obstacles and avoid collisions.

During our testing during our testing, the K10 Plus quickly and efficiently vacuumed up dust, pet hair, crumbs and other debris from our hardwood and carpet floors. It also was able to reach into tight places such as under our beds or around chair legs. In addition to vacuuming, it can perform mopping tasks using an additional cloth or wet wipe. There's a small pack of wet wipes included with the K10 Plus to get you started.

The app for the K10 Plus is intuitive and straightforward to use. It has several customization options that include setting a date that the machine will not be disturbed, altering the layout of its map or setting a timer of when it needs to clean. The app monitors the lifespan of your accessories such as the side brush, sensor and bin filter. This helps you know when it's time to replace them.

The battery life of the K10 Plus is also pretty excellent. We could get about three hours of cleaning out of it on the full charge. It charges quite quickly. Once it's completed with its work it will empty the dirt into a large dustbin that is located in its base station. It can be loud when it occurs, but at least it's not as loud as the other self-emptying robot vacuums we've tested.

4. iRobot S9+

The iRobot Roomba S9+ is part of the top-end S Series of the manufacturer that is above models like the iRobot Roomba J7 or iRobot Roomba i3. It is very good in maneuvering around furniture and performs well on a variety of surfaces. The main brushroll is equipped with counter rotating rubber scrapers that effectively remove all debris, including pet hair, from bare floors and carpets. Its real-world suction power is strong for a robot vacuum, but isn't as strong as the power of top brands like the Roborock S8.

The Roomba S9+'s design is definitely premium and features a D-shaped body that looks much more modern than its circular counterparts. This shape can help it to get into corners and along edges with ease. Although it may leave dust in these areas if the corner brush isn't spinning quickly enough, its powerful motor more than makes up for this.

In iRobot’s tests it was found that the S9+ was able to pick up cat litter and pet hair with ease. It also performed exceptionally on hard floors where its powerful motor could power through most types and corners and edges easily. Its advanced vSLAM technology as well as Imprint Smart Mapping made it one of our top navigators. It is able to find its way under sofas and beds with draped valances.

Setup and operation are easy using the iRobot application. You can select the functions you want to activate during the initial setup process or wait until you have an understanding of how it functions. The internal bin needs to be manually emptied after it has become full however, the process only takes about 15 seconds and is relatively quiet.

5. Roborock S8

The latest version of the Roborock S series is an impressive mop and robot vacuum with a robust set of features. Like its predecessors, it uses the LIDAR sensor and camera system for navigation and obstacle avoidance. The application's mapping system creates an interactive 3D map of your house, allowing you to designate specific rooms for spot cleaning or create no-go zones. The app allows you to manage the robot's schedule and also select different cleaning and mopping modes for each room.

The S8 is equipped with upgraded HyperForce suction, which is able to remove fine particles and hair with ease. You can use the app to adjust suction power, and the device will automatically switch between the energy-efficient 'Quiet', Balanced', and 'Turbo' mode depending on the surface it's cleaning. It also comes with a 'Carpet Suction Boost' mode that increases suction when the robot is on carpets.

You can manage the S8 by pressing a single button, which also functions as a general "Clean button' or an 'Spot Clean button to direct the robot to that location. Press the 'Dock/Home' button for the robot to go to its home station. The app comes with a rich feature set and is easy to use. It even lets you choose off-peak charging times in order to save on the costs of utilizing peak-time electricity.

It's still an impressive amount of time and was enough to completely clean my home.
