Compact Pushchair Reviews

A lightweight compact stroller will be the ideal choice for those who frequently travel by car or public transport. They are easy to fold and store and less likely to be damaged by baggage handlers.

These strollers that are lightweight offer modern convenience and are easy to navigate on cobblestones. Additionally, they can be easily stored in overhead compartments of planes.

Lightweight

The most compact pushchairs fold up easily and are easy to carry. Most of them have a one-handed fold, and take up less space when folded than full-size buggies. They're a great option if you don't have much space in your home, or you're worried about space restrictions when traveling.

It comes with an easy-to-use fold and, like the Contours Itsy comes fully assembled in the box. It's a great option for parents who intend to travel extensively with their infant and can be tucked away in most car boots and small trunk spaces.

The Cybex Mios is another option. It bridges the two types of pushchairs and buggies and is a fully-functional system with nimbleness. It can be utilized from birth in a parent-facing mode, but then switched to world-facing as your child gets older. It also has a decent recline that's nap-friendly. It's not as compact as the Libelle however it's a bit smaller and is more suitable for use on flat surfaces. It's not the ideal choice for rocky terrain, however. Its other selling point is a very affordable cost and outstanding durability tests.

Easy to store

The Joie Pact Pro is the ideal travel buggy, which folds down so small that it can be tucked away in an overhead luggage compartment and weighing so little you'll barely notice it in your car boot. It's also a great day-today stroller, and our test-driver Hollie found it easy to steer even while juggling her one-year-old. She liked the adjustable handle and lockable wheels, however, she said it's not an extremely comfortable seat. But she also appreciates the fact that you can include extras like the washable, reversible seat liner, rain cover and an muff for the foot.

The Babyzen Fold pushchair from YOYO is another compact folding stroller. It's not as streamlined as the Cybex Libelle but it's still a great product that can be easily slid into car boot and trunks. It also gives more options for newborns than other buggies for travel, including the option of adding an infant cot or bassinet, plus a bespoke ride-on board designed push chair for sale older children and a double seat adapter.

It isn't the most compact buggy to drive on rough or uneven terrain, and its tinier wheels aren't as efficient as the other models we've tried. But, it's a very manoeuvrable pushchair and the YOYO is capable of maneuvering narrow shopping aisles and muddy trails. It's a good choice for a vacation or city break.

The Cosatto Bee6 is a compact travel buggy that comes with many features at surprisingly low prices. It can be folded down to the size of a backpack and weighs only 6kg, making it an easy travel buggy to transport on planes and trains. It's also a breeze to use and our MFM reviewer Matt was a joy to steer, even with a heavy toddler on board. The hood is another advantage, as it can be adjusted to shade you and protect from rain and sun. It's also great for napping. The only drawbacks are that it lacks storage under the seat and you'll have to carry or drape a bag on the handlebar (against our expert advice!). Alternatively, you can purchase a separately sold changing bag holder to make it a great buggy for holidays.

Easy to Manoeuvre

The wheels on small pushchairs might look small, but they typically are surprisingly efficient, navigating narrow aisles for shopping or rough terrain effortlessly. The Micralite is a great example. Despite having small wheels, it is able to handle bumpy pavements easily and turn swiftly on narrow roads, and take on a bit of gravel with ease. It also has a smooth steering system that is easy to steer with one hand. It folds down into an attractive and compact box that fits snugly in its accompanying carrying case.

The majority of compact pushchairs were created for toddlers or older children. However there are a growing number of them come with an option for lying flat or the option to add a carrycot (or car seat) so that they can be used from birth. These Z fold buggies or concertinas are typically very light and weigh between 6 and 8 kg. They can also be accepted for use in cabins by a variety of airlines. MFM Editor Gemma has used hers many occasions and says it's extremely simple to use and pack away.

If you're looking for a truly compact fold one, the YOYO is the pinnacle of the compact category and was the first strollers of this type. It's still a highly sought-after choice for parents, with many choosing it over its competitors thanks to its clever details and superior performance. It's the ideal choice for frequent travellers, especially if you want to get rid of the stress of waiting at baggage pickup and instead bring your stroller along with you.

The YOYO is extremely compact and fits into the carrying bag easily and with plenty of room. It is a great option for frequent travelers, particularly those who have to pack many things in their luggage. It's also extremely versatile - you can buy a range of optional accessories for it, including baby bassinets, a bespoke ride-on board and twin travel bundle to turn it into a tandem. You can also purchase rain covers and hoods to ensure your safety.

Confortable

Hollie is our reviewer who recommends the Silver Cross model to parents looking for a lightweight compact pushchair. It's user-friendly and can be tucked away in the trunk of your car. Its maneuverability and reclined seat are among the top in our tests. It also boasts a useful tray for parents as well as a storage basket that can accommodate small backpacks, and it's got great sun cover options (including a Hood) and padded straps that help your child to feel comfortable.

Some compact-Folding pushchair pushchairs fold down so tiny that they're suitable for air travel pushchair in a cabin, making them ideal if you frequently travel or have a tight car boot space. They're usually light to make them easy for you to carry. They can also be used with an air travel system, if you select a version with a lie-flat seat or a baby 'pod'.

A key thing to note when choosing a travel buggy is that not all models are created to be the same. Some brands claim that their compact-folding pushchairs can easily be folded using just one hand. Others might require more effort or two hands to fold it. Make sure the seat reclines. Some are flat, whereas others have some slight recline. This could be okay for toddlers, but not suitable for younger babies.

Check that the model you select is appropriate for your travel plans. For example, if your destination is hot it is recommended to choose models with mesh fabric that's vented to keep your child cool. Also, if you're planning to go somewhere rainy or windy, make sure the pushchair buggy you buy comes with an appropriate cover to go with it - generic covers will not fit and could let water in.
