Lamborghini, the Italian supercar manufacturer has taken the first step into the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new initiative - named the Space Key - is a work of art that was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a tangible object that connects to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via a QR code that is located on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

The Space petron key to lamborghini is made from carbon fiber composite materials which Lamborghini shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of research project. The carbon fiber was then transformed into a unique art work when it returned to Earth. The physical element includes an NFT serial code that ties to the digital art work via a QR code on the back.

For those who don't know, NFTs are unique identification numbers that are stored on a distributed blockchain ledger that is linked to digital assets such as a photograph, video or other type of record. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and scarcity as well as trackability of tokens via the internet.

Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art by working with NFT PRO, an white label NFT solution for business. In the coming months, Lamborghini will announce details about this exciting project. This includes the names of the unknown artists and a timetable for auction.

The physical element of Space Key

After a series of social media posts that teased something space-related, the Italian supercar manufacturer lamborghini smart key launched its non-fungible (NFT) tokens through an exclusive project called Space Key. It was developed in collaboration with an unidentified artist and artist, the NFT is a collector's item that will be auctioned off within a few weeks. Its underlying structure is comprised of an advanced carbon fibre composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part a research project. Carbon fiber was 3D-printed for the base of each Space Key. Each Space Key is connected to a unique, digital artwork using an QR code. Only five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique IDs that can be logged in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain, and linked to a digital asset like images. It's a hot topic among those with more money than common sense. It was only a matter of time before automakers decided to cash in.

Space Key is made up of five parts. It was developed by using a carbon fiber composite, which was sent to the ISS back in the year 2019. Each NFT will have a QR code which links it to a special digital art piece by the same artist. More details will be released in the coming weeks and days including the name of the artist who created the digital art work and the method of purchasing one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social-media posts hinting at it, the luxury car maker lamborghini digital key finally announced its first project involving tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five physical items that will unlock a special digital art by a yet to be identified artist. The collectors' piece was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It is scheduled to be auctioned in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth the Space Key was made into a QR code, which connects it to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels up each of the five images which were captured by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used an inflatable camera that had an lens to take individual images, which were later combined into the final photo. The result is an out of this world image that reveals the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car rising away from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no exact date or place yet.

The auction

Lamborghini the automaker with the most luxurious design has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT made of carbon fiber composite material which actually traveled to the International Space Station in 2019 to conduct research. The actual sample has been transformed into five unique items that each link to exclusive and purely digital artworks created by an as-yet undisclosed artist via the QR code that is on their backs.

The auctions will be held between February 1 and February 4. They will run for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the amount of time it took Apollo 11 for him to leave Earth and enter the lunar orbit. The five NFTs are available for bidding by creating an account online. Each will be sold in a separate auction and the winner will be awarded a digital artwork created by the renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five distinct moments the Space Key passed during its flight in space.

The full details regarding the Space Key and its accompanying digital artworks will be revealed in the coming weeks including the identity of the unknown artist and information on how to get these incredible creations. Follow Lamborghini on Instagram for all of the details you need!
